‘So Far Behind’ Yet So Far Ahead

So Far Behind

Feral Family

Indie trio Feral Family return with their sophomore EP So Far Behind, capturing the band at their most visceral and emotionally charged to date. Across six tracks, the EP balances raw, riff-driven intensity with moments of vulnerability and emotional depth, signalling a confident step forward following their 2023 debut album Without Motion.

Drawing influence from Frank Herbert and Sergio Leone, the heavy guitars and dynamic drum patterns pair with soaring, impassioned vocals. Fans of Fontaines D.C., Foals and IDLES will resonate with their music, but Feral Family carve out a sound that feels unique.

Opener The Balance sets the tone with its driving riffs and energy, while Down In The Dirt provides an impactful and resolute conclusion. Endless Night stands out for its thunderous guitar lines and expansive chorus, and Taste Of Life is a true showcase of lead singer Jamie Lowe’s high-ranging vocals. The rhythm section plays a crucial role throughout, with new drummer Regan Grimson injecting additional force and precision into the band’s sound.

Feral Family were recently named one of the Top Five finalists in a competition to support Only The Poets at their £1 Brixton Academy show. The band have also earned runner-up for Best Indie Band at Radio Wigwam’s annual awards and secured a spot on KEXP’s playlist. Apricot Magazine has already described them as “one of the most compelling new acts in UK alternative music,” a claim that So Far Behind does little to dispute.

With an EP release show in London on February 6th followed by dates across the North of England, including support slots for The Nightswimmers in Leeds and Avid Fan in Manchester, Feral Family are looking to have a significant year ahead.
