The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Rock The Swansea Scene

The doors of ‘The Scene’ opened once more on the 10th August in the seaside city of Swansea, for an unexpected dash of reminiscent emo, alternative rock.

Unfortunately due to the large crowd that was drawn in by the appearance of the Florida-based pop punk quartet, the rising temperature transformed the venue into a musical furnace. This slight anomaly however did not diffuse the excitement that gently rippled through the crowd.

The indie-rock quartet ‘The Effect’ took to the stage with blazing confidence as well as an impressive and original catalogue, the group were able to give the unconventional crowd the jolt they needed to have the young teenagers rocking their bodies in the front rows to the ‘cool’ weathered music enthusiasts bobbing their heads in the back.

The next band who graced the welsh platform were the American punk trio ‘Bet me I’m lying’. The singer, being a painfully obvious Wu-tang fan, may have rocked the look but lost the energy that The Effect managed to build up, leaving something to be desired. The song style seemingly old hat and quickly dispersing the crowd towards the bar area, the entourage it seemed, were not in their element.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus made their way on to the stage with the guitarists rocking sunglasses and the singer an open Star Wars vest. Although their appearance suggested something of a recently finished late night drinking bender, they were more than ready to perform to the adolescent spectators.

Playing a variety of their hit singles including classics such as “False Pretense” and their celebrated track “Face Down”, hands were thrown up in delight and lyrics were sung in unison with Ronnie Winter. With vocals on point and guitar solos galore, they really do still have what it takes to satisfy their fans.
