Sunday Ain't So Sweet With Saint Agnes In Town

Sunday is a day for worship, a day for rest and a day that means no work; however in Dalston’s favourite pub The Shacklewell Arms a new band proved hard work, no rest and what you’ll get is an eager crowd lusting and showing their worship.

Saint Agnes came on the stage with a presence that was attractive and enigmatic, all in black with leather jackets, boots and lead singer Kitty Austen’s badass attitude; accompanied by Jon Tufnell his charismatic performance matched up to Kitty's, ultimately making the band sexy and slick!

With no time to waste the band jump straight into “Where the Lightening Strikes” which is a track that reflects the bands attitude so perfectly, it’s cool, unique and grabs your attention. With Tufnell on the harmonica it’s so refreshing and interesting to see this dirty Rock sound come alive with once forgotten instruments. Austen on the Keyboard producing a Gothic Organ sound against the electric guitar oozes the grittiness that this band have so on point, the whirring guitar is magnetic and is a climatic track that should be heard by every Rock lover.

With hints of Band of Skulls and Kill it Kid, Saint Agnes are somewhat darker ultimately captivating the crowd, subtly playing the guitar and harmonica almost teasing us as to what's next. Leading into “Roadhouse Blues” the pinnacle sounds pinch our ears and lure us in, eventually extending this particular track to a crazy, intense jam session creating a huge climax with head bangs, mosh pits and demands of more.

This dirty Rock n Roll band appear to have gone back in time to Texas stolen harmonicas, guitars and maybe someone’s cowboy boots along the way, but transformed this vintage Rock music into a 21st century revolt with cool clothes and a sound we are certainly charmed by.
