Seth Troxler's Surprise Set Illuminates COYA
Published
COYA played host to their summer party last week, one that was headlined by a surprise set from Seth Troxler. The Michigan DJ reportedly flew in from Ibiza just to play the gig for the 300 or so fans dressed in white at the Mayfair club.
The intimacy of the gig was nearly as astounding as the venue itself, throughout the night you couldn’t help but have an overwhelming sense of class and exclusivity. The white sheets draped from the ceiling helped create the summer illusion during the dead of night in central London.
The club is located in the heart of Mayfair, just down the road from the prestigious Dorchester Hotel. With various events going on, throughout multiple levels, the atmosphere was infectious, and the strictly white dress code gave the evening a feeling of unity.
Seth Troxler’s set was, as always, as flawless as his style which was only enhanced by the venues set up and a warmly receptive crowd. Dropping some heavy bass and electro, the crowd were lapping up the vibes, Troxler coming across humble, often chatting with members of the crowd, and posing for pictures throughout. Despite the early hours, Seth still gave the impression of a summer atmosphere within the club, through the manipulation of the beats as well as the ceilings draped in white, and dancers on podiums in every corner.
The set was mixed brilliantly, just a few days after Troxler rocked Parklife, he showed why he is one of the most in demand DJ’s in the world right now. A classic mix of bass and electro nearly had the walls of COYA shaking, and most certainly had the hearts of the fans racing. Everything about the evening felt intentional, from the dress code to the décor, everyone slotted wonderfully into place.
The evening also represented the other side of London’s clubbing scene. We’ve all heard of DJ’s like Troxler headlining, Fabric, XOYO and Ministry of Sound, just to name a few, but there’s a whole different world in the early hours of London’s scene as well. One where you can be one of 300 people, not 1 of 1,000, and one where you can not only get up close to the music, but also have a wonderfully classy night at the same time.
It doesn’t take long to see why both Troxler and COYA have such a strong reputation. Like pretty much anything that he touches now, Seth Troxler’s body pounding beats turned this night into gold. Ice sculptures, great drinks, and infectious music made for a truly complete night. Everything just seemed to add up, fit together, in want of a better phrase. The venue matched the music perfectly, a snug summer fit with great vibes.
