Sea Change Perfects Headline Gig In East London
Published
After hearing Sea Change’s album which was released last week, I instantly fell in love. The soft vocals harmonised against the electronic beat captivates you immensely. If I was getting this reaction from just the album then I needed to hold on to something when I saw them perform their headline gig at The Sebright Arms in East London.
In the underground venue with a busy crowd, there was lots of talk in English and Norwegian which was refreshing to hear as Sea Change clearly have a big fan base dispersing from different countries. Coming on to the stage lead singer Ellen W. Sunde appears timid and fragile, supported by her all male band Sea Change perform with confidence and optimism. Ellen’s voice illuminated the room with the crowd hooked on her, this girl don’t seem so timid now. She is completely lost in the music which is reflected by the crowd as people sway and close their eyes, absorbing this sound that is chilling yet enchanting.
Sea Change’s production was tight and faultless; their music is well thought out with underlying beats, instrumentals and creative voice techniques. Seeing this thought process turn to life was a pleasure and everyone in the venue was appreciative to see the methods of the production.
With the album and headline gig occurring in the space of a week, it was a quick process for Sea Change which is understandably overwhelming considering the band were very thankful and appreciative after their set. I would absolutely love to see Sea Change again and highly recommend anyone who has a soul to be captured by this band.
If hearing the album and seeing them live wasn't enough for me then I was very lucky to have a quick chat with Ellen before the show, check it out.
