Here's our pick of the festival's latest acts and their best tracks for you to sample...



With 150 new acts just announced for The Great Escape 2014 (8-10 May), the festival’s programme is looking increasingly exciting – yet, narrowing down who to catch is no easy task. With that in mind, here are five of the new additions who you can’t afford to miss.
 
Girl Band
Glorious post-punk noise is the order of the day for these youthful Dubliners. Pack earplugs, and prepare for a harrowing, exhilarating watch. FFO: The Birthday Party, Liars.

Lizzo
Sharp, sardonic and hugely enjoyable, Lizzo’s ‘Batches & Cookies’ single has already turned plenty of heads – and her appearance could provide some of this year’s most memorable. Alt hip-hop excellence.

Pup
Former Subba New Artist Of The Day, Pup deliver a ‘mess of fuzzed up riffage and riotous vocals, displaying the frenetic qualities of The Hives at their most melodically inventive whilst utilizing the raw power of Millencolin (in their punkier hey-day).’ In other words, they’re ace. www.facebook.com/

Anna Meredith
Anna is a hugely talented composer, who has worked with or appeared alongside everyone from the BBC Symphony Orchestra to James Blake. Her work is rich and fascinating, with strong electronic influences.

Augustines
Returning to The Great Escape off the back of their latest, self-titled album, Augustines should be among the brightest lights at this year’s festival. Expect evocative, anthemic  songcraft by the truckload.
