Another State Deliver Pleasant Country Pop Crossover

All You Need (Single)

Another State

So who are Another State I hear you ask? Apparently they are the UK’s first ever pop/ country male vocal harmony group and, with debut single “All You Need”, they deliver a musical manifesto of very accessible, tailored-for-mainstream success, country pop crossover. Aint no shame in that.

"All You Need " opens with a very mild and pleasant opener with a little acoustic guitar and then hits a very pacey verse structure before launching into the very catchy hook in the chorus.

There is a definite country pop sensibility here although it is subtle (this is not Beyonce reframing Jolene); instead think of a slightly toned down Rascal Flatts 'vibe' served with an ample side order of the Westlife 'feels'. There is a boy band flavour here, particularly in the video, although with a slightly older pitch.

The song itself relays the usual love story standards of relationships affirmations of love, trust and a stellar or 'star crossed' future together.

Add in the coordinated vocals and seamless harmonies and it presents a very pleasant, inoffensive, accessible track that is both UK and US radio-friendly. It does what it says on the tin, no shocks - no surprises. Put simply, your Mam and Gran will love this to bits ("what nice boys they are!"), but there's no reason why this shouldn't be a guilty pleasure for you too, no matter how cool you think you are. Have a listen and enjoy. Recommend.
