Landscapes & The Used Create Frenzy In Nottingham

Occupying the main support slot were Landscapes, delivering a raw and captivating performance with more scope and energy than many other bands who they currently share the melodic hardcore genre with.
With riffs reminiscent of Go It Alone and honest, aggressive vocals, Landscapes showed a somewhat lethargic crowd exactly why they deserve far more attention than was perhaps given to them. With their debut album and most recent release, 'Life Gone Wrong', first published in 2012, many artists would struggle to find the enthusiasm to continue to play these songs with as much passion as was seen from Landscapes, and after hearing new material on Saturday, it is clear that their next release is set to be even better than their last.
After the longest intermission ever, The Used hit the stage to a crowd as diverse as their influences, throwing together a well-balanced set full of classic tracks and a handful of newer ones. Passion is at an all-time high for the band members throughout the set, clearly marking their intention to remain an important part of the alternative scene in which they exist.
Crowd reaction is strong too, and continues to build with each passing song, peaking at the intro to "A Box Full Of Sharp Objects", when the band perform a snippet of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", the “greatest song of all time”. With the big riffs and bigger choruses that The Used are so known for, singing along is unavoidable, and the crowd’s building energy is seen to burst out of control in the second half of the set.
Smashing a wonderful set that made this entire 2000 strong crowd sing, dance, mosh and bounce, The Used show no signs of slowing down, nearly 15 years into their career.
