JAWS Play Dreamy Set At Heaven

After the release of their debut album “Be Slowly” in late 2014 I have been addicted to JAWS, with their Indie Dream Pop sound drawing you in, forcing a bop of the head to every song. JAWS playful sound is ideal for the young hipster demographic, but this isn’t a bad thing as people tend to shy away from the word “Hipster”, but where there are trendy people, there is trendy music and before you know it JAWS will be the next big thing following the likes of Peace and Years & Years.

Performing this week at the flamboyant venue Heaven, the venue was buzzing with excited young girls and cool guys in bomber jackets. With a set list mixed of awesome songs from the debut album “Be Slowly”, new songs and golden oldies such as “Stay In”. Whatever song JAWS played the crowd were committed with constant smiles and a courageous mosh pit, with girls on shoulders and the fun sound the environment almost reflected a late night festival performance which gave us a hint that JAWS would be absolutely fantastic in the fields of Reading and Leeds.

Ultimately, the gig was fun and the band have successfully created an album that will never stop playing in my iTunes, however the sound wasn’t as great as I expected. The flat, droning vocals of lead singer Connor Schofield fit perfectly with the indie genre but were probably focused on a bit too much on this occasion. Nonetheless, this doesn’t decrease the admiration I have for JAWS as you can’t put an album out such as “Be Slowly” and hold on to one minor thing. JAWS are fantastic band that I definitely see succeeding in the very near future.
