The Fades Are Looking For Keanu On Infectious New Single

Looking For Keanu (Single)

The Fades

Back again are The Fades and they’re on the lookout for Hollywood royalty this time! Following their impressive Night Terrors album that left me straddled between the post-punk gem You Follow Me Around and their psychedelic tripped out 9 minute ’Clintion-esque’ epic TeleVision, the South London garage rockers now turn their hands to 90s slacker no less!

Think Weezer goes drinking with Wheatus and get served by a punk poet à la John Otway style. It’s a tale of mid-life struggle all tied up with relationship breakdown in today’s broken Britain and the antidote is… wait for it - a fantasy hook up with Keanu Reeves where they both walk off into the sunset - as if! Nonetheless, after a fairly raw intro performance that sets the scene, the track does slam in nicely for the chorus, lifting your spirits to a new high. Excellent backing vocals increase its ‘sing-along ability’ and by the end you’re totally hooked!

The video tells a good story too and I can see a couple of Keanu references in there, including a time travelling phone booth plus Matrix style blue and red cups.

A great track overall but you need patience at the beginning.
