Annah Marcelle's Stunning ‘Mars’

Mars (Single)

Annah Marcelle

Annah Marcelle is the name rising the ranks of pop right now. Hailing from Virginia, Annah’s emotive lyricism and catchy melodies are making a name for the 19 year old singer-songwriter. This track comes off the back of her latest EP, ‘Closure’, which was six tracks delving into love, loss, and learning, with Annah’s captivating vocals and poignant songwriting at its core. Having been writing and recording music since the age of sixteen, Annah’s latest single is another chapter in her signature pop sound.

Her recently released single ‘Mars’ is a beautiful exploration into an acoustic pop landscape. The song explores the idea that losing yourself and your identity in a relationship is much alike going off to live life on Mars. True to Annah Marcelle’s artistry, the imagery that floats throughout ‘Mars’s lyricism is perfectly vivid and paints a captivating picture. Her vocal performance is as powerful as ever, her tone swaying between strong and empowered to gentle and intimate, reflecting the narrative perfectly. Effortless runs and ad-libs are sprinkled throughout, sailing through the carefully crafted harmony stacks. The soundscape is a masterclass in acoustic pop. Slick samples are dotted throughout, light percussion twinkling between them, and a grounding guitar riff anchors all the elements together. Fusing the electronic and acoustic, ‘Mars’ is a unique blend of singer-songwriter folk elements with synth-soundscapes, and it works.
