Peter Calandra's Newest Release Is An Enchanting Piano Journey

Renowned composer and keyboard player Peter Calandra's newest album, "Spirit," represents a compelling blend of introspection and nostalgia.

With 10 original piano compositions and 3 re-imagined classics from his youth, this album explores the unique circumstances of the pandemic era, where Calandra's spontaneous improvisations during his Saturday Night Live Sets on YouTube birthed a wealth of material ripe for exploration.

Spanning a spectrum from tender folk-inspired solos to expansive, emotive pieces adorned with atmospheric synthesizer textures, "Spirit" exemplifies Calandra's remarkable versatility as a composer and keyboardist.

Rooted in his extensive experience within New York City's Broadway scene, as well as his prolific contributions to film scores, Calandra's musical journey is rich with influences that have shaped his distinctive style.

Calandra stands as a luminary in the realm of music and is a Yamaha endorsed artist.

His versatility as a composer is unparalleled, boasting a prolific portfolio spanning albums, singles, films (exceeding 100), and television compositions (more than 2000!). Rooted deeply in the vibrant tapestry of the New York City music scene, he has been a stalwart presence for decades.

He has graced the stages of numerous Broadway productions, alongside esteemed orchestras such as the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra and NY Pops Orchestra. Currently, Peter imparts his wealth of knowledge and experience as a distinguished faculty member at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, CUNY.
