Express Office Portico Shine On 'Incommunicado'

Incommunicado

Express Office Portico

Hailing from Nottingham, indie-pop sensations Express Office Portico have set the scene on fire with their much-anticipated, glittering debut EP, 'Incommunicado'. Produced by the esteemed Joshua Rumble, known for his work with Bastille, Black Country New Road, and Anteros, the EP is a captivating blend of melodic pop and biting indie tendencies, adorned with layers of analogue synth.

The EP's lead single, 'He Said She Said' serves as a shining example of the band's infectious sound. With its catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics, the track effortlessly weaves through vibrant synths, bright guitar tones, and pulsating rhythms, creating a sonic landscape reminiscent of indie-pop darlings Alvvays.

Exploring themes of isolation and introspection, 'Incommunicado' draws inspiration from Sylvia Plath's confessional poetry, delving into topics like childhood trauma, substance abuse, and unstable relationships. However, amidst the melancholy lies a sense of resilience and hope, as the band confronts the idea that self-isolation is not the answer to overcoming pain.

Recorded partly at Battery Studios in London and drummer Olly Walton's home in Nottinghamshire, 'Incommunicado' showcases the band's growth and maturity. Featuring performances from new member Sam, who replaced the former guitarist, the EP is a testament to their evolving sound and artistic vision.

Express Office Portico has already made significant waves in the music scene, with each of their singles receiving airplay on BBC Introducing and several tracks being playlisted on BBC Radio Nottingham. Their dynamic live performances have garnered attention, with sold-out shows at local venues and notable festival appearances.

With 'Incommunicado', Express Office Portico solidifies their status as ones to watch in the indie-pop landscape. Their ability to blend infectious melodies with introspective lyricism sets them apart, promising an exciting journey ahead for both the band and their growing legion of fans.
