Connecticut-based hardcore punk band, 'Down With Rent,' has finally unleashed their highly anticipated EP, 'Shithead Americana.' With four powerful tracks, the EP serves as a poignant social commentary on the pressing political and sociological issues plaguing the United States.
Driven by a relentless assault of distorted guitars, riff-heavy breakdowns, thunderous drum grooves, and impassioned vocal deliveries, Down With Rent adopts an uncompromising and straightforward approach to their songwriting. They prefer short, impactful tracks that cut straight to the chase. An exemplary illustration of this is the opening track, '2008 Again,' where the band takes aim at the escalating commercialization of nostalgia, which serves as a distraction from the multitude of problems confronting the working class.
The EP explores themes such as the worsening cost of living crisis, perpetuated by a debt-ridden system, as well as the myriad of issues stemming from the rise of a far-right, misogynistic faction within society.
