Moon Worm
Jack Schaefer A.k.a. Moon Worm describes his self-written and produced musical output as "Indie rock from the Moon"… and indeed he delivers an appealing, otherworldly electronic synth dreamscape with a nod to an 80's pop vibe.
His latest single " Midnight Audio" is the title track from the EP of the same name and although all the tracks on the EP are completely and pleasingly 'out there', I'd like to focus on this track as being emblematic of Moon Worm's burgeoning indie synth musical development. The track is very much an electro musing - an introspective exercise whereby he is weighing up his own experiences and that of the world too. It's about examining if the life choices you've made are the right ones - and appreciating and cherishing the 'moments'. Life is short innit. We've all learned that in the last few years, hey.
But the track isn't morbid or pessimistic - it is more an appreciation and evaluation of life; a dreamy inner dialogue about existence. Indeed, Shaefer's subdued vocals sound like they are being sung from an interdimensional ethereal realm punctuated with synth drum pattern as its heartbeat.
Retro flavoured, experimental and yet very appealing. Yes it's far out and that's what I dig about it. Recommend.
