WHO SHOT SCOTT

Armed with an inspiring story that lies within the upbringing and heartbreak of the man behind WHO SHOT SCOTT, as soon as I turned this track on, I fell head over heels for it. After a turbulent few years, I feel like WHO SHOT SCOTT really had to suffer for his art and to find his feet in the industry. Creating experimental hip-hop music from the ashes of the personal and professional apocalypse, I don't think I have ever related to an artist as much as I do with Scott. Taken from his EP 'Mercy II' which features some absolute tuneage, Scott creates philosophical lyrics from deeply personal experiences.

You can hear that vulnerability has always been at the forefront of his creative philosophy, whether that's lyrical content or with music production, you can tell Scott uses music as a form of therapy. Striving to be brave and express his inner emotions as accurately and personally as possible, that's what makes me love his music even more. It takes confidence to be that open with your fans and I fully respect this artist for that. Telling the story of an abusive relationship from his past, you can tell this was written from a place of sadness.

In conclusion, I feel this track is all about closure and Scott telling himself that what ever happened was not his fault and that it doesn't define him or his future. Tyler The Creator, I reckon you've got some serious competition in this artist.
