Monuments (Single)

The Desert Island Big Band

The Desert Island Big Band are back with 'Monuments' and with it displaying a new energy. I love a raw guitar track and this song does just that and more. Nice lyrics and melodies to beat. Check it out below!

You would be forgiven for thinking The Desert Island Big Band were a 5 piece group from the southern states of the US, but this is not the case. Much like Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Canada’s Stefan Jurewicz is the mastermind behind the project who has led the music of the Desert Island Big Band to be as stylistically diverse as his production catalog, while still retaining a distinct overarching identity.

New release Monuments exemplifies this as Jurewicz meshes moody guitar tones with melodies that keep the ears engaged from start to finish, threading the line perfectly between accessibility, and credibility. In the alternative-rock track, The Desert Island Big Band also manage to bridge the gap between freedom of solitude, and the weight of isolation, by acknowledging that perspectives ebb and flow like the tide; that drowning and drying off can happen in the same place.
