REVIEW: The Footlight District - Lightning

The great band coming your way this week are not only bandmates but also siblings! The Footlight District are the latest band that everyone is talking about and I can definitely understand the hype, especially with their latest release ‘Lightning’.

One thing that makes the band stand out above the rest is their powerful vocals and harmonies. It might just be true that families that sing together have special abilities when it comes to vocal harmonising.

‘Lighting’ is a garage-rock track but another thing that this band does remarkably is they fuse together elements of other genres such as Blues to constantly keep their audiences on their toes. When I first heard the track, bands such as Cage the Elephant and Band of Skulls couldn’t help but come to mind. Filled with groovy and powerful sounds throughout, this is one that you will not want to miss.

The garage rock style originated from around the 1960s, and when combining some themes that are discussed, it is, in a way, like two worlds combining. This makes their music very intriguing and allows it to appeal to a much wider audience.

The Footlight District’s newest single is most definitely one you should be adding to your music library. Not only are their guitar riffs exciting and rhythmic, but their vocals are artistic, making their music sound passionate and entertaining. If you are a fan of garage rock, The Footlight District is definitely a band you should be listening to.
