Soft Velvet Lounge Are The New Hot Ticket

Life Of The Party

Soft Velvet Lounge

Soft Velvet Lounge may be new, but their presence feels anything but. The dream-pop duo was founded in 2020 like most relationships these days, over the internet. Classing them as indie-pop would be correct, but feels narrow-sighted in the context of the intricacies found in their new internet baby ‘Life Of The Party’ (album) with focus single ‘Blood’.

The song came about by fluke. Jazz mistakenly opened up the wrong file and thus ‘Blood’ became. A real tribute to influences of the pair such as Beach House and Soccer Mommy, while maintaining its independent integrity.

The lyrics are so heavy and poignant that the song barely made it onto the album, so the duo decided to split vocal duties, and thus the weight of the message. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Jazz describes the role of ‘Blood’ is to stand with people in similar situations, who may be emotionally trapped by their family, friends or society in general.

“Family doesn’t need to be blood."

Soft Velvet Lounge amassed over 30k streams online with their debut single ‘Polaroid Girl’, as the first release from Zedadiah Martinez’ independent record label, Mood Machine Records. Their DIY attitude is epitomised by Zedadiah’s creative direction throughout the campaign, which wouldn’t look out of place on a grammy-winning Tame Impala release. ‘Blood’ is their best and most ambitious release to date, which will be accompanied by an on-brand visualiser. A classic in the making!
