NRVS Clean Up With Scum & Its Trippy Video

Scum (Single)

Nrvs

These days it’s hard to find a cool sounding record which also has a great pop sensibility about it - but rest easy people for this latest record from anonymous trio NRVS has just that! With tinges of Blur in the production sound and elements of Joe Strummer in the vocal, here’s a band that could give Sleaford Mods a run for their money.

I’m not sure who they are or where they’re from but I love the lyrical sentiment throughout - especially the “we’re the suckers who pop-pop your pills” and the “that’s right we’re a lot like yoooooo” bits. If my reference is right there’s a Velvet Underground feel to the guitar parts but that’s no bad thing and the splashes of tasteful electro throughout do a great job of keeping the arrangement nice and contemporary.

And then there’s the video, which adds a totally new dimension to the record - a truly psychedelic affair that needs to be watched on a big screen! Would love to see Nrvs live but no-can-do at this point in time - however I’m looking out for the day that happens and I’ll be right at the front when they do.
