'My Mind Is Racing' From The Nomadic Serves Up Many Genres In One Glorious Track

My Mind is Racing (Single)
The Nomadic
The Nomadic are a curiously eclectic sounding band fronted by 'Aussie in New York' Rob Gaylard (who incidentally is also a UN worker - quite the day job!). Like their band name suggests their songs are well travelled and influenced by many experiences. The title track from their latest album 'My Mind Is Racing' is no exception.
The track starts with a pleasing 'heartbeat' of sound a very stripped down indie vibe. It's way more optimistic than pessimistic and has a punchy hook and 'happy' claps midway through. Rob's vocals are oddly reminiscent of an 80's Richard Marx mixed with 90's Richard Ashcroft. Strong female backing vocals kick in later to give a kind of indie pop 'wall of sound' vibe with a tinge of country blues, and even a half nod to classic alt rock...(told you it was eclectic.)
You can clearly hear and understand how the bands' global travels have influenced this one track. I am minded to go and listen to the album of the same name and see if the other tracks are as pleasing and multi-layered as this one. (Hmmm watch this space... ) In the meantime go download/ stream this single. Recommend!
