When it’s 30°F in New York City, it's that long coffee wait line that gets you scrolling for some new songs in those earbuds you got for Valentine’s Day. And, what a mesmerizing effect to come across a fresh new sound from Anjalts (pronounced like ‘Angeles’) an American Singer/Songwriter who penned the single ‘Air to Fire’ also the title for her upcoming 12 song album release set for 2022.
The acoustic guitar song blazes a fresh, edgy, poetic rendition that was inspired by the Amazon Rainforest fires. A place that hits close to home for Anjalts as she was raised by her Caribbean grandparents in Guyana, South America, where 87% of the country is covered with Rainforest. She got inspired by her grandfather's musicianship as a child and went on to become a self-taught multi-instrumentalist. Her songs offer a poetic and philosophical approach to life's many challenges. A magical ballad that joins the ranks as one of the best-written songs to have dripped into my earbuds in a long time because of how many times I have replayed this song ever since.
Anjalts hauntingly beautiful voice and words go right through your soul. With an ethereal calling that stands for something. This artist leads a new breed of eco-aware trail-blazers sending a vital message of the devastating fires destroying the homes of so many local tribes that live there protecting the Rainforest. The quiet and voiceless ones standing in front of the big trucks filled with fallen tree trunks, blocking the development of roads invading their protected Rainforest and the fires that won’t stop burning.
