Love On The Dole - New Sound Of Working Class Northern England

Love On The Dole (EP)

Arcadian Haze

For me, Arcadian Haze is a new name. After doing some research, I got to know that it's just a year old band from South Yorkshire. Their funky grooves, choppy guitars, and epic choruses slip effortlessly between indie, soul, and grime, fulfilling their own description of being the new sound of working-class Northern England.

The band recently released their debut EP called Love on the Dole. My first response was ‘wow’, when I started playing one of their EP songs. They were very raw and natural. The music is really groovy, and it's a blend of rap and hip-hop. The lyrics are story-driven and more realistic. It's got that kind of anthemic vibe. Although I thought that the choruses could have been more tight in terms of tempo/rhythm, the total energy of all three tracks is immensely strong.
