Snot Finish UK Debut Tour On A Huge High
Published
It's been 20 years since US Punk Metal band 'Snot' was formed, 18 years since they released their debut studio album 'Get Some' and 17 years since the loss of founding vocalist Lynn Strait, amidst various line-up changes and reunion shows lies a band who's debut in the UK is more than a few years overdue.
Audio in Brighton marked the last day of Snot's British debut and I arrived to a packed venue thriving with anticipation of what was to come, older metal fans stood patiently at the back drink in hand unknowingly waiting to rekindle their childhood, whilst younger fans edged towards the stage anxious and uncertain of what was to come, there was defiantly something a little special about tonight.
Support came in the form of York based metal trio the Bastard Sons who are defiantly worth an honourable mention for managing to get the crowds attention in the early stages of the night but it was clear who everyone was here for.
After much anticipation Snot took to the stage in a sudden blur of spilt beers, clench fists and 90's Nu-metal nostalgia, opening with the self titled track 'Snot' it was clear that they were far from approaching their expiration date.
Vocalist Carl Bensley certainly has some big shoes to fill but had an unrelenting energy to him powering through tracks like 'Joyride' and 'Stoopid' the performance flowed faultlessly into one another and the use of spacey almost dissonant interludes gave the audience room to breath before being thrown back into the energy and chaos Snot had conjured.
Snot continued to battled through the night with classics such as 'Deadfall' and 'I Just Lie' much to the audiences delight and guitarist Mikey Dolin even made someone's day by letting them play along side the band.
As the night started to come to a close Mikey gave a heartwarming speech in memory of Lynn Strait, it was clear that Snot was still shadowed by the loss of Lynn but they stood determined to make music in his memory and although the future of Snot is pretty cloudy it's clear this band won't be forgotten in a hurry.
