KJ & The Fox Release, ‘Never Gone Hill’

Never Gone Hill (Single)

KJ & The Fox

KJ & The Fox twist and turn in this jaunty and playful track, featuring a few star ingredients, from a pond, a frog, a campfire gathering and a twinkling of stars in the sky.

Written by Keith John Adams, the lead vocalist, he shares with us a scrapbook of memories, as he paints us the tale in full illuminous textures, bringing the story to life. A night that turned into a philosophical tale of perspective, freedom and letting go of even the most magical moments.

As the stars in the night sky shine back at us and peer down into our world, lighting-up the sky and each treasured moment. The campfire crackles and away the embers of yesterday – as this moment of realisation was brought about by a real-life pond, a campfire and a dilemma with a frog.

This whimsical, fairy-tale piece invites us into this fateful night at ‘Never Gone Hill’ under the brightness of the clear moon lit sky. The track certainly has a feel of campfire tapes about it – hence the perfect setting for the video, around the warmth of an open fire under a night sky. You almost get the feeling of being invited into the vivid imagery of a Van Gogh painting, as the band share their wonderous moments in this juke-box of memories. 'Never Gone Hill' is one in a number of releases, leading up to their debut album, due in 2021.

As we listen to their tales, it is no surprise that they echo the searching eccentricity of Scritti Polliti, while reminiscent of artists from Squeeze, with a hint of indie icon Vic Goddard of Subway Sect and the raw storytelling humour of Elvis Costello.
