PassOut Records Acoustic Night Debuts In East London

PassOut Records is a very fresh, very new and very cool label based in London; with its sister PassOut Clothing developing over the past 2 years and succeeding quickly it’s no doubt that the Musical brother is set to be a winner too.

In the cool, quirky east side of London at CATCH bar PassOut Records is holding its very first Acoustic night showcasing the signed artists and ultimately a lovely get together of those who are supporting PassOut. With Fedora hats, platform boots and many intricate and interesting styles it’s obvious that not only the artists here but the fans and supporters of PassOut are a cool and chic bunch, signifying the individuality and creativity of this fresh label.

Starting off the night is Ciinderella a female artist whose persona is sensitive and shy, with a soft tone but don’t let her bashful behaviour fool you as her powerful vocals were a great opening to this diverse line-up. Next up was a young lady named Mary, what was special about Mary is that she owned the stage and spotlight the entire time with a bursting personality and adorable giggles but the girl was soon hidden behind a lady when she sang.

Marys diversity made her stand out amongst the line-up as her range and tone differed and her fast paced vocals against the slow strums of her guitar contrasted effectively.. did I mention she isn’t even signed yet? No doubt she will be after this particular performance.

Stepping up on stage with a large black hat, long blonde hair and face nice to look at is Sophie Scott, yes another chick on stage with a guitar, this particular act had a persona that was confident and maybe more experienced than the previous artists. Her delicate tone sat perfectly in the room and with a fan base already Sophie drew up quite the crowd. The sweet and soft vocals were ideal and would be great to listen to in summertime.

But the next act for me personally was the best female out of the Line-up; maybe because it was nice not to see a guitar but her tone was deep and gritty and had that edge that ignited the room again. Nessessary is the name that stood out on PassOut Records and is a name that you should keep your eyes peeled for. Performing a wide range of covers that showed her vocals, but it was Nessessary’s own song that grabbed everyone’s attention. Showing her creativity in the production and vocals she’s definitely one to watch.

The fifth and final act of the night was headlining artist Sam Cartwright Johnson and PassOut definitely “saved the best til last” as some of the attendees cheered. Drawing the biggest and loudest crowd of the night, Sam Cartwright Johnson deserves each and every one of those cheers and more.

His acoustic sound is so on point and perfect there’s no room for criticism. His Folk sound is raw and rough with his deep and gritty tone making it somewhat charismatic. With hints of George Ezra, Ben Howard and Hozier, Sam is definitely heading in the right direction and I feel PassOut Records have done an exceptional job of putting him on the map. Sam played a generous set with covers such as the prominent “Wicked Games” by Chris Isaak and his own new song “Fanfare” which I can’t wait to get my hands on.

With not only Sam being new but the Record Label too it’s going to be a very interesting road to success and I’m glad I’ve witnessed the beginning trail.
