Band Of Skulls Host A Fantastic Friday Night At The Apollo
Published
Band of Skulls... they need no introduction, when reading their name you instantly hear their sharp electric guitar in your head that sends shivers down your spine and that’s exactly what happened at the Hammersmith Apollo on Friday night.
With the lights going down and “It’s a Man's World” playing, Band of Skulls are welcomed to a roar of applause and cheers, igniting the Apollo with the much loved track from their First album “Light of the Morning” it definitely got the crowd going.
The charismatic Russell Marsden is passionate and perfection on the guitar with the scratchy blues and grunge sound rocking the Apollo, the crowd can’t help but head bang and just throw their bodies against the music. Playing a varied yet impressive set list from all three albums including “Himalayan” which was released earlier this year in March, tracks like “Brothers and Sisters” and “Hoochie Coochie” were crowd pleasers.
Band of Skulls are a cool yet calm band whose music gets you going and creates an atmosphere with tracks like “Nightmares” and “Sweet Sour”, their music is so on point and out of all three albums there’s not one song I can’t really say I don’t like... maybe I’m being biased but the difference in this band's sound live and recorded on an album is... well there is no difference, Band of Skulls are very much alive and execute each song with passion and precision.
However there are no songs like the golden oldies, as it was that time Band of Skulls left the stage on “I Know What I Am” with everyone on a high but obviously craving more. Hands clapping, feet stamping and mouths cheering it was inevitable they'd come back out to satisfy us with more brilliant songs.
Performing “Hollywood Bowl” with the band encouraging the crowd to be a part of this great track, cheers of “Hey” echoed the venue with smiles and claps. Band of Skulls were everything and more tonight, playing all the favourite tracks off three amazing albums, interacting with the crowd and a stage presence that is so engaging you didn’t want to go home. It felt like the only thing left was to head home, indulge in your favorite tipple and drench yourself in more Band of Skulls songs and the memories of a night not to be forgotten... here’s to the next.
