Katie Dauson Kicks The Door Down With ‘Go Go Go’

Go Go Go

Katie Dauson

Katie Dauson’s “Go Go Go” doesn’t politely enter the room — it kicks the door open, flips on a vintage amplifier, and dares you not to move. Built on a fizzing garage-rock backbone with flashes of 1960s soul and psychedelic sparkle, the track feels like it was recorded in the middle of a very good idea that nobody wanted to stop. And honestly, that energy is half the fun.

There’s a charming looseness to it all, like the band are grinning at each other while playing just slightly faster than strictly necessary. The guitars jangle and snarl in equal measure, the rhythm keeps everything teetering on the edge of chaos, and Dauson’s vocal rides the whole thing like someone trying to keep up with a runaway shopping cart — but in the coolest possible way. It shouldn’t feel this controlled while sounding this unhinged, and yet here we are.

By the time “Go Go Go” finishes, it feels less like a song and more like a dare you accidentally accepted. It’s loud, it’s lively, and it has zero interest in letting you sit still. If music is supposed to move you, this one takes that instruction very literally — and then sprints off laughing.
