Brawlers Live HAS To Be Experienced To be Believed

Camden Underworld has got to be one of the UK’s leading venues for alternative and rock music (despite being a ridiculously awkward layout) and, as per, is filled with merch-clad fans eagerly anticipating a night of pop punk.
St. Albans boys Trash Boat certainly warm everybody up as they stream in from the bitterly cold wind, as their extremely energetic stage presence sparks an endless stream of stage divers and fans clawing for the microphone. Brawlers follow suit and take to the stage with an explosive start, with shouts of “fuck Sunday!” riling up the crowd from the get go.
As the show progresses, a pocket of young, animated die-hard fans tirelessly sing, dance and scream at the tops of their voices, clinging to frontman Harry Johns at every opportunity. The four piece effortlessly keep the room’s attention even during the new songs from the unreleased album (read my review here) - the short, snappy, vigorous songs sound on point and will certainly get the party started during any post-release performances.
New singles “Drink and Dial” and “Windowmisser” go down an absolute storm, cuing even more stage divers and general madness. With the addition of an extra guitar from Johns, heavier songs like “Holding Back” pack a punch and get even the back of the room nodding their heads along.
If anyone was still on the fence about Brawlers, the reaction to previous hit “Mothers and Fathers” is enough to shove them over the line. Easily the best reception of the night as the band tell the sweaty crowd that “if you wanna dance, you should dance now because nobody puts baby in the corner!”, and frontman Harry throws himself into the crowd for the set closer and a well earned dance party with fans.
Overall, a fantastically fun show from one of the best upcoming bands England has to offer - I don’t think a smile left my face for even a second during the entire set. Brawlers are on various tours until the end of May, check out their Facebook for dates because you cannot afford to miss this band.
