REVIEW gig Florence And The Machine How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful

The Dog Days Are Certainly Not Over

What can we expect from Florence other than an award winning performance?

With an entire arena of music lovers, Florence and her band, better known as ‘The Machine’, left the Nottingham crowd mesmerised as she took to the stage bare footed, greeting front row fans as she did so.

With a set list consisted of some of their biggest hits taken from all three albums, they showed us that the dog days are most certainly over.

Her outfit consisted of a brown blouse and white trousers which created her signature 'hippy' look. On stage, Florence was anything but inactive, running from one side of the stage to another, dancing and twirling along the way. Throughout her set, Florence decided to get close and personal to her fans, running down the stairs at regular intervals and standing on the barriers, singing alongside and embracing them.

Whilst performing her hit 'Rabbit Heart' she decided it would be more entertaining to perform it on a merchandise stand, situated at the back of the room, which she used as a second stage. As she sprinted past the crowd to reach this merchandise stand, one would question if Mo Farah would stand a chance, even her security struggled to keep up.

Singing to her fans once again, she held their hands, making the performance ever more personal for them. Florence's voice left the audience mesmerised throughout her whole hour and a half set.

Her ability to show two ends of her vocal scale showed her true talent. Despite the deep notes she would present the audience with, when Florence had intervals to speak to the audience, she thanked them with her soft, shy voice.

Her band also, the Machines, cannot go unmentioned. Consisted of the drums, guitar and bass, but also backing singers, keyboardists, brass section and harpist, they most certainly completed the set perfectly.

Both Florence's sweet personality and her engaging, powerful performance showed her to be an incredibly talented artist that people just want to talk about and support.
