Lab Rat Gets Both Chaotic & Cathartic With 'Lost In Soho'

Lost In Soho (Single)

Lab Rat

Lab Rat’s latest single offering - 'Lost in Soho' - is a raw and rousing dirty alt-rock anthem that captures the slow unraveling of a life no longer lived with purpose. The track blends grunge, rap, and punk influences, creating a dynamic soundscape that feels both chaotic and cathartic.

From the opening riff, 'Lost in Soho' sets a restless , impatient, tone, underscoring the song’s themes of identity crisis and change. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of disillusionment, with Lab Rat delivering gritty vocal 'punky despair', dancing to the thrum of grungey guitars that add an extra layer of urgency. The chorus erupts into a powerful release, balancing frustration with a sense of defiant energy. There is also a surprising rap element mid track- (similarly employed by likes of Maneskin) which serves to elevate the anarchic energy.

There are punchy drums as a defiant heartbeat to the track with distorted guitars adding to its twitchy, edginess. There's a definite tension here: Lab Rat is both looking inwards and fessing up - and at the same time it feel like he's just preparing to lose it, big time!

'Lost in Soho' is a teaser for his upcoming album 'In the Walls We Wait', and, no doubt, sets the stage for an emotionally charged collection of songs. Perhaps this is a clue to what's coming: Lab Rat is gearing up to deliver an album that won't shy away from life’s messiest moments — it will likely celebrate them with energy and vigor. Recommend.
