Sleepmakeswaves Leaves Us Speechless

Sleepmakeswaves are the gorgeous filling in the triple headlining sandwich that took place at The Underworld on Monday. Having never been to The Underworld before (I know I can’t believe it too) and never seeing an instrumental band live (I do apologise), I didn’t quite know what to expect. However I was left feeling refreshed and overwhelmed.

Sleepmakeswaves are an instrumental Rock band from Sydney, Australia and are currently on their “Great Northern Tour” which is the name of their latest single. Regrettably being closed minded I thought “No lyrics really? Wont that be boring?” but how wrong and ashamed of myself I was. Sleepmakeswaves do the magnificent yet tricky job of capturing pure emotion and throwing it right in your face.

With an unexpected huge crowd, I pushed my way to the front and everyone around me was hypnotised or in some trance produced by this band. The respect and awe the crowd have for Sleepmakeswaves is just fantastic, especially for something that is so unique; and I soon found myself joining the waves of appreciation as people head banged and lost control of their body. In the cheesiest way, this is the kind of music that you feel and just lose yourself to.

Sleepmakeswaves were flawless with an energy that was contagious and their sound being on point with no faults, the tactical manipulation of the reverb on one particular track really moved me and was so interesting to see how it was done. If you’re looking for something unique and a change to the usual music you listen to... or simply something amazing I would definitely recommend Sleepmakeswaves.
