A Much Needed Wake-up Call

Wake Up (Single)

Kristy Chmura

With “Wake Up,” Kristy Chmura delivers a much needed wake-up call.

Re-imagined from her 2018 debut and released on Earth Day, "Wake Up" hits harder than ever in 2025. Born from Chmura’s personal grief over environmental destruction and fuelled by the eerie haze of wildfire smoke over New Jersey, this new version is more than an update but is much more a transformation.

In collaboration with Damien Musto and sound visionaries Christian Eigner and Niko Stoessl, the song sheds its original acoustic skin for a lush and cinematic build. Synths shimmer, drums pulse and Chmura’s voice soars with quiet conviction. The production works to uplift the message and ground in both urgency and beauty.

What makes “Wake Up” stand apart though is its sincerity. Chmura has been walking the walk for years as a volunteer on her town’s Shade Tree Commission, fighting for forests and urban canopies.

The accompanying music video is equally powerful, blending documentary imagery and projected visuals to bring the message home. It’s not about ego or spectacle—it’s about truth, told through raw footage, thoughtful text, and a voice that refuses to look away.

“Wake Up” is a modern protest song wrapped in atmosphere and soul. It doesn’t scream—it gently, firmly insists: this matters. And you matter in it.
