The song, lifted from her critically acclaimed album Pure Katie, captures the rush of a night out at the legendary Rivoli venue in downtown Toronto — all sparked by a chance meeting with a fellow musician at an ELO concert weeks earlier.

Dauson recalls the unusual moment of inspiration that led to the track: “I was on my way to the washroom at Scotiabank Arena when someone behind me shouted, ‘I’m a big fan of your music!’” she said. After discovering the stranger was in a band, Dauson later attended their performance on November 1, 2024, at the Rivoli. The energy and connection she felt that night stayed with her, eventually becoming the seed for the single. The lyrics and melody came to her early one morning, and she rushed to write them down before sunrise.

Recorded using her vintage left-handed 1978 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Tobacco Burst, “Rock Along With You” delivers a rich, guitar-driven sound that blends elements of rock, folk, and country — a signature style for Dauson.
