A stunning hit of summery effervescence, delivered in the most delectable of pop packages...
SUBBA-CULTCHA.COM SAYS: “Is it summer already? Or is that just the joyous waves of musical warmth that flow over you the minute you stick a Saint Raymond track on? It’s like the minute you press play a Hawaiian shirt suddenly folds itself around you, a golf visor lands on your head, some Ray Bans appear from behind your ears, and your trousers shrink into a pair of Surfing shorts, such is the joyous vibes on display here. You could be a cynic and point out all the band’s obvious references; there’s the effervescent rhythmical pop of Two Door Cinema Club, the colourfully tempered pop of Mystery Jets, a dash of Local Natives and the vocal styling of Jack Penate. But it’s the way it’s all been combined and turned into something so deliciously enjoyable that is the master stroke here, the band won’t win an award for originality (crikey, throwaway ¾’s of your record collection if that’s what you’re after), but there’s a great pop mind behind those delightful hooks, and when delivered with such a luscious video, it screams Summer hit to me. Sample the track yourself below and keep an eye out for our forthcoming interview with the band.”
Following the release of his EP
‘Young Blood’,
Saint Raymond, aka Nottingham-born Callum Burrows, has announced details of a
headline show at London’s Scala, which will take place on
May 14 (general sale commences on Feb 21 and tickets are available to
purchase here). Furthermore, he’ll be heading out on his
biggest UK headline tour to date throughout March, which will include a sold-out show at London’s Borderline (full dates below). Currently in the studio recording his debut album (set to release later this year), which promises to propel his indie-pop-rock to the masses, it is safe say that 2014 is going to a huge year for
Saint Raymond. In 2013, he released his self-penned, independently released debut EP
‘Escapade’, leading to a
‘Single of the Week’ on iTunes with his track
‘Fall At Your Feet’, while other EP track
‘Letting Go’ was added to Radio 1’s BBC Introducing playlist. Soon signed to Asylum Records (Rudimental, Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran), he took to the stages of various UK festivals, including Dot to Dot, Secret Garden Party, Reading and Leeds and more.
