Rumours of Fleetwood Mac At Cadogan Hall

Wisely combining both the British blues boom Peter Green period, and latter day pop-orientated all conquering rock juggernaut. Rumours do more than justice, to a fabled legendary back catalogue.

In turn seemingly setting out to honour the strength of the music itself, rather than lunge into chicken in the basket self parody. That is, as opposed to the band dressing up in dated era clothing and fake wigs and beards, instead we get the Peter Green version focusing on the songs themselves rolling off note perfect versions of "Man Of The World", "Oh Well", and "Albatross" all played with passion and verve.

With interludes and random jams placed into the music, in turn giving a more spontaneous live experience as opposed to straight imitations. The tightness of the band as a whole, particularly demonstrated through these early numbers.

Before quickly segueing into the Mark 2 version of the band, as "Everywhere" is keenly blasted through the speakers as a party atmosphere clearly begins to spread through the venue. With increasing numbers abandoning their seats to make way for an impromptu dance floor in the aisles as the gig progresses. Before proceedings are calmed a little, as an acoustic section of the show occurs marked by emotive versions of "Landslide" and "Songbird" take hold. Followed by a very strong version of "The Chain", wherein one could literally be listening to the Rumours record itself, it’s that much like it, though in some ways better because it's live.

Wherein it’s really moments like tonight where you realise just how massive Fleetwood Mac actually are. And sure whilst everyone knows Rumours is one of the biggest selling albums of all time, its only when one see’s the overwhelming love and reaction crowds have for this material in the flesh does it really hit home.

With the band returning respectful, at times immaculate interpretations of these classics throughout. Further amongst them Tusk, "Go You Own Way" and inevitably finishing with presidential election favourite "Don’t Stop".
