REVIEW gig God Damn God Damn - BBC Music Introducing

God Damn Smash BBC Music Introducing @ The Oobleck

With some technical issues God Damn took to the stage and wow... they blow the roof off! So much noise, it was insane! The Wolverhampton two piece started their set off with "Shoe Prints". Ash who is lead guitar and vocals and Thom who hits stuff for a living have been playing all over Europe recently, including supporting Foo Fighters in Manchester earlier this year.

Having such a mixed crowd all night meant the room was only half full but that didn't bother God Damn, they didn't care the only 10 people knew who they were, they still played the show with as much dedication as a headline tour. They were also trying out a new song "Dead to Me" which they also released a music video for back in October.

As they were going through the set-list all you could hear was a constant buzzing from the lead vocalists amp, about half way through the set he apologises for the buzzing and explains they have no money because they are in a rock band.

The current album 'Vultures' has really turned heads including some at Radio One as well, which is why they are headlining an BBC introducing show. Huw Stephens was a huge part of their success by giving them a platform to build on. A massive thank you to him and his production team!

Playing only five songs meant the obverse to hits. After "Dead to Me" Ash whispered in the mic "because this is the BBC, I'm going to tune my guitar" this encouraged a huge echoing of boos around the Oobleck from the die hard God Damn fans.

"Sliver Spooned" was second but last, the rifts were crazy and the drum beat was electric! Ash thought it was a great idea to head for the crowd and grab a fans head, pressing it into his stomach like when you trying to get the last bits of air out of an inflatable toy. I don't think either of them knew what was going on.

Thanking Radio One for the support and also Huw Stephens they finished off with the title track of their album 'Vultures'. I didn't think God Damn could get much better at this point of the night but they destroyed that last song, Ash ended with the mic on the mouth just shouting while in his knees on the floor. While Thom was playing drums like a mad man, just kept on going and going! How else would you finish a God Damn gig?

If you ever get the chance, make sure you see the live, grab that opportunity with both hands!
