Refresh Your Ears With Glass Caves
Published
Glass Caves headline the Barfly, but before we get started I might warn you this review might be a little biased because I’m quite the fan but here’s why...
First discovering Glass Caves at Barfly in Camden almost a year ago and I’ll tell you what my feet and body could not stay still. They’re catchy songs and upbeat tempo with powerful sing-along lyrics that just make you scream and shake. I was captivated, caught and now an instant Glass Caves fan. Ever since then I’ve needed to get my fix whenever possible, since playing at KOKO’s Club NME putting the other bands to shame, respectively of course and they’re album “Alive” playing on repeat.
Now back at a favourite of mine Barfly, Glass Caves were headlining to a dedicated crowd. Lead singer Matt warmed up the crowd with his northern charm and salesman skills to plug their new merch. The band as a whole look great, long and big hair, beards, skinny jeans- contain yourself ladies. But that’s not just it, Glass Caves have incredible talent, performing live they are charming, friendly and exciting, and ultimately put on a hell of a show. Matt is the perfect front man and they all play a vital part in this band where I can’t take my eyes off them.
One factor however I can’t seem to get my head around is that how are these guys not big yet? How are they playing at the Barfly and it’s not sold out? With an album like “Alive” and the amazing stage presence these guys hold it’s clear they have the potential and talent. Though, at each gig I am noticing a small group of fan girl’s increase and it’s not just me. So hopefully in the very near future these guys will get what they deserve.
So take some time away from that usual stuff you listen to and refresh your ears with the joys of Glass Caves, tracks such as “Go”, Out of Control” and “Be Together” are all fantastic. But if you want the full experience then you must see these guys live and if a balding middle aged man saying “I’m a sucker for these guys” doesn’t get you out then I don’t know what will.
