Dead Tooth – “Birthday Boohoo”

Birthday Boohoo (Single)

DEAD TOOTH

In true Dead Tooth fashion, the post-punk quintet from Queens, NY, delivers a chaotic yet strangely cohesive sonic experience with their latest single 'Birthday Boohoo.'

Released just in time for the Halloween season, the track feels like an eerie, Frankenstein-like creation, pieced together by the band’s signature blend of jagged riffs, gritty sax, and the dark, twisted energy fans have come to expect.

There’s a menacing vibe in the track’s structure, but it’s the playful dissonance and relentless rhythm that make this track feel alive, almost pulsing with its own twisted heartbeat.

The added touch of saxophone gives “Birthday Boohoo” a dirty, almost deranged edge that separates it from your standard post-punk fare. It’s a sound that feels both familiar and unsettling, evoking comparisons to post-hardcore greats like At The Drive-In and The Jesus Lizard, while still carving out a lane all its own with its “rodeo-core” flair.

As the band prepares for an extensive European tour, including stops in the UK, “Birthday Boohoo” feels like a timely release, capturing the eerie, unpredictable energy of the band just in time for Halloween. It’s a fitting addition to their catalog—distorted, unsettling, and memorable.

Seeing Dead Tooth live is an absolute MUST! Check them out at one of their UK live shows; November on 15th at the London’s Shacklewell Arms, 16th in Manchester at Big Hands and 17th at Nottingham’s Saltbox.
