Baby Queens Own The Stage At The Social

Monday night at The Social in Central London opened it's doors to R&B group The Baby Queens and the ladies owned it.

Opening for them was the big-voiced Allegra whose original song "We'll Be Alright" will tug at your heart strings with the deeply moving "I'm sorry for last year" lyric. Her set also included a Drake cover "Hotline Bling".

And then the Baby Queens appeared on stage. They thanked everyone who had performed before them and began their set with new single "Tired of Love" (due in October).

This followed with "Red Light". The canon vocal delivery is simply to die for and the harmonies are killer. The great thing about these ladies are the difference in vocal styles and tones and yet they gel so well together.

Further enjoyable moments are "By The River" and "Life Goes By". It's funny how the ladies sound is cinematic yet so simplistic. They don't need wigs and costume changes, just the 5 ladies on stage.

The show came to an end on a track dedicated to "those who have been heart breakers" and as the audience and ladies giggled, Vanity (vocals) quickly corrected the situation with "those who have had their heart broken" and the next song had an incredible build up towards the end, in the vein of their EP song "So Real". The final song "Melody" gave me actual goosebumps.

And it finished. The only complaint I had (except the fact they didn't perform pure ear worm and iconic "So Real"?) was their set came and went too quickly. I had a quick chat with Vanity afterwards and I cannot wait to see more of these ladies.
